What can I do for you?

Do you have chronic back and neck pain that just won’t go away? Well, I love treating people like you because I use an approach that works well, even for those cases who have not had success with other forms of therapy. I find that the pain you are typically experiencing is caused by tightness in the deeper smaller muscles that run along your spine. Often these muscles are difficult to access and even with a deep massage you can’t “get at” them. So, I use a relatively new technique called IMS, which stands for intramuscular stimulation. This involves using fine needles to release these deeper, tighter muscles along the spine. After a session of IMS you should feel quite immediate relief with a period of mild soreness that follows for a few days. One of the main reasons that I have incorporated IMS into my practice is because it tends to provide you with quite long-term relief with fewer sessions than more traditional forms of therapy.

How else can I help you?

Are you a weekend warrior but have been plagued by constant, nagging injuries? Well, I have worked extensively with athletes of every ability, from weekend warriors to Olympic level. I have competed competitively myself in a variety of sports and can relate to the challenges you face when confronted with a nagging injury. Whether it be a recent acute injury or a longer term, more chronic problem, I love getting to the bottom of it by assessing your movement patterns in detail. I use my knowledge of advanced exercise prescription (I am a certified strength and conditioning specialist), to address these faulty movement patterns through corrective exercises. For any lingering symptoms of pain or tightness, I then use hands-on manual therapy, IMS or medical acupuncture.

Want to know a little bit more about me?

I live locally in Cobble Hill with my wife Janet and our son Owen. I love spending time with my family, taking advantage of the many outdoor activities available in the Cowichan Valley. When not hiking along the trails with our dog Rory you’ll likely find me out for a round of golf or catching a wave while surfing on the rugged west coast.
