Pelvic Health

What can I do for you?

My approach to treatment is to get you on the right track by the time you leave your first visit.  This may be done by manual therapy techniques, exercises, or simply education that the way you are doing something every day is contributing to the problem.  I want you to be confident when you walk out the door that we can fix this problem together.

I believe in assessing someone by looking beyond the site of pain. This could mean looking at how one’s postural alignment plays a role in their condition, or how movement in another part of the body is affecting the area of complaint.  The reason this is so important to me is because I want to get down to the root cause of your pain, not just treat the symptoms.  My pet peeve is when I hear patients complain that a particular body part has given them trouble for years, on and off.  That tells me that they’re simply treating the pain but not fixing the problem.  My goal for you would be that you fix the pain once and for all, and that you never have to treat the same injury twice!

How else can I help you?

I have a special interest in treating those with back and hip pain because of their close relationship with the pelvis. I often find dysfunction in the way the pelvis is moving (whether caused by physical restriction or from too much mobility, or because the person has just never learned to move properly).  This can be problematic whether you are sitting, walking or squatting at the gym; because of course, the pelvis is central to all these positions.

Since having two children, I have also found a greater appreciation for the pelvic floor muscles and how these muscles can have a tremendous impact on our daily lives.  So whether you are a pre/post natal patient or had children 20 years ago and thought that incontinence was just an unpleasant side effect, I am here to tell you that pelvic physiotherapy can help; and I would be so happy to help you!

Want to know a little bit more about me?

I graduated from Queen’s University in 2007 with my Master’s in Physical Therapy.  Since then, I worked in Ottawa and Toronto with a wide range of patients, from those in high level competition to busy executives whose “work hard, play hard” lifestyle leads to pain and injury.

My background is in ballet and have returned to it in recent years, but I also love hiking, swimming and being out in the fresh air.  I have recently moved to the Cowichan Valley with my husband and two young (and energetic!) children and am looking forward to enjoying all it has to offer us!

Tim was very knowledgeable and took the time to really get to know what was going on with my injuries. Tim knew what was up with my shoulder and worked very hard to produce the results I was hoping for when I made my massage therapy appointment. I will definitely be coming back!
